HOW DO F1 ACADEMY™ RACES WORK?
There are 4 main elements to an F1 ACADEMY™ race day format: One Free Practice Session (40 minutes), The Qualifying Session (30 minutes), and then 2 Races, each lasting 30 minutes.
During the Practice Session, drivers have free reign to familiarise themselves with the track and warm up for the competition. They then enter the Qualifying Session, where their fastest lap will decide their grid position for Race 1 and their second fastest lap will decide their grid position for Race 2. Race 1 will then commence, followed by Race 2. Points will be allocated per race, adding to the drivers' scoreboard for the season.
How the Points System Works for F1 ACADEMY™
● Drivers in pole position for Race 1 and 2 will be awarded 2 points.
● The top 10 finishers for each race are awarded the following points: 25, 18, 15, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 2, 1.
● 1 point is awarded per race to the driver that clocks in the fastest lap time.
HOW MANY ROUNDS ARE IN F1 ACADEMY™?
The 2024 F1 ACADEMY™ campaign will span over seven different rounds, beginning in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia in March and ending in Yas Island, Abu Dhabi in December. Each round takes place over a weekend, which will feature one Qualifying session and 2 Races.
